She exudes femininity, while keeping to the sleek suits suitable for lawyers when on the job, and flowing dresses in private.

She is from a large, well-to-do Boston family. Her father manufactured umbrellas and handbags until his retirement, her mother still writes self-help books. She has one older sister and one younger sister, Lila and Rose. She sees her parents for dinner once every month. 

At work, she is the authority of Holmes, Gordon & Gibbs by virtue of personality as much as seniority. These days she rarely takes cases herself. Her days are filled with directing the firm, maintaining and acquiring big clients, and managing the other two named partners.

Looking at that flashy exterior personality, one might think there is nothing to the man but flash. You will never see even a hint of guilt, fear, depression, or doubt, and that is precisely how Jimmy likes it.

He has a house outside Boston with 400 acres attached. He hardly ever invites anyone. His weekends are sacred. Other than that, he is at your disposal.

He chose carpentry because “after climate change we will need to make our own furniture”, but he's not particularly good at it. Cameron mainly wants to have fun; it helps deal with the underlying conviction that he has no future. His dearest, most devoted dream is to become somebody's sugarbaby and eventual trophy husband. Tommy knows, because Tommy's seen his collection of Mills & Boon paperbacks.

He works with Cameron and is one of his roommates. He doesn't say as much as he thinks. He has big plans for himself. His parents live in Croydon and send him more money every month than he lets anyone know. His great-grandfather was an American GI who came to the UK and actually stayed with his white girlfriend. Tommy has piercings all down his ears and a careful beauty routine. He comfort-dresses like a cross between Sid Vicious and Janelle Monae. A fashion nerd, he believes in a future though he knows he will have to fight for it. Tommy is slow to fall in love, or in a bed, and sometimes identifies himself as ace to get out of awkward conversations. In fact he doesn't quite know how to describe his sexuality.

Juliette was sent at the age of eleven to public school in England to learn the language and stayed on a student visa to study in the University of London. Her parents, baby brother and aging family dog Peggy are back in South Korea. She talks to them every week, but she is very used to being alone by now.

In school, she was a submissive member of a group of girls, who always talk about getting back together now on Facebook but never do. In university, she hasn't really made any good friends, and has so far refused every invitation for after-work activities from her co-workers at the flower shop. At night, she does paid online dates, nothing very sexual so far, just talking to lonely men about her day.

She likes to wear western-style wigs and cute, flowery outfits for her dates but when she goes to school she keeps her hair in a dyed short cut, lightly curled. She needs glasses, but usually wears contacts. She has an elaborate fantasy world and is writing little romantic stories she sometimes posts online, and dreams of one day writing historical romance for Mills & Boon.

She is a little lonely, and a little shy, and worries that going back to Korea would mean having to get married and settle down, rather than focusing on her writing. She is naturally talented in math and is lazily breezing through university courses on microbiology, with the aim of becoming a lab technician, but she knows it's not her dream.

It is within an easy driving distance from her parents' house in Kent, so she has been visiting more, especially since Anne has got too poorly to ride the horses anymore. Gail has an English sheepdog, Martha, plenty of books, and a wide open garden. Her favourite season is fall.
